Application for Reinstatement

of Thesis Submission Eligibility for Fall 2026


Through this application process, Students can acquire (regain) the qualification for submitting the thesis with the approval from Dean of graduate school.
 Please make sure to check the detailed information stated below.


1. Eligibility: Those who meet both of the conditions stated below.

 A. Students who are scheduled to submit the thesis for degree in Fall semester, 2026 (who are scheduled to graduate in February, 2027)

 B. Students who are no longer eligible to submit a thesis because they have exceeded the thesis submission period.

Degree Program

Thesis Submission Eligibility Period*

Master's Degree

Within 6 years from the date of admission

Doctoral Degree

Within 10 years from the date of admission

Integrated Master's–Doctoral Degree

Within 10 years from the date of admission

 * Periods of leave of absence are excluded from the calculation.


※ Examples

I. As of the Fall 2026 semester, a student who was admitted to the Master's program in Fall 2020, completed the required coursework without taking any leave of absence, and attained ABD (All But Dissertation) status.

→ Is considered to have exceeded the eligibility period for thesis submission.


II. As of the Fall 2026 semester, a student who was admitted to the Master's program in Spring 2020, completed the required coursework after taking a total of two semesters of leave of absence, and attained ABD (All But Dissertation) status.

→ Is not considered to have exceeded the eligibility period for thesis submission.


III. As of the Fall 2026 semester, a student who was admitted to the Doctoral or Integrated Master's–Doctoral program in Fall 2016, completed the required coursework without taking any leave of absence, and attained ABD (All But Dissertation) status.

→ Is considered to have exceeded the eligibility period for thesis submission.


IV. As of the Fall 2026 semester, a student who was admitted to the Doctoral or Integrated Master's–Doctoral program in Fall 2016, completed the required coursework after taking a total of two semesters of leave of absence, and attained ABD (All But Dissertation) status.

→ Is not considered to have exceeded the eligibility period for thesis submission.


2. Period for Application : July 13th(Mon) ~ Jan 17th(Fri), 2026

4. How to apply

Step

Procedure

 Complete the Application for Reinstatement of Thesis Submission Eligibility.

 Obtain your academic advisor's signature on the application form.

 Submit the signed application to your department office directly.

4

 ~ Review and approval of the application by the Dean of the Graduate School ~

5

 Complete Research Registration.

6

 Submit your thesis for degree conferral.
